Every pool has a group of faithful dedicated swimmers, some call themselves 'Lane Eight', some call themselves the 'Icebreakers'. Here at the Manuka Baths our soul swimmers are called the 'Coneheads'. Some of our characters include The Don... Don Tier, like all octogenerians has had a rich and full life. His includes being at the forefront of firstly... RADAR and then COMPUTERS. Don was knows for his graceful dives when

the pool had a diving board.

Cecil Carr, fondly known by all as El Presidente, naturally became a reknown pharmacist as his father and uncles who came to Australia from Germany in the 1840's and helped start the beer industry in Australia. Many thanks to the RESCHE family.

Merv Knowles, former Australian Ambassador to Greece is held in awe by all, for the fact that he swims every day, rain hail or shine and has the unique distinction of being at the bars on opening day in 1930. More characters and stories to come.
