Welcome to the historic Manuka Baths... Completed in 1930, it is an exceptional work of Federal Art Deco style designed by Principal Architect E.H. Henderson.

It was build in part by sustenace workers for a cost of ten thousand pounds and officiallly opened on Australia Day 1931 (yet the first public swim was Christmas Day 1930).

Originally known as "The Swimming Pool", it was the capital’s first bathing house.

The baths were built for facilities for 86 men and 41 woman - considered to be an adequate ratio at the time.
